Mountain View, CA – February 26, 2008 – SumTotal® Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: SUMT), a global provider of learning, performance and talent management solutions, today announced that Uponor, a leading international supplier of plumbing and heating systems for the residential and commercial building markets in over 100 countries, has selected SumTotal’s ResultsOnDemand® – Learning as part of their plan to differentiate and increase their presence in the emerging market of cost-effective, green-alternative plumbing systems.
Uponor wanted an on-demand, robust learning management system and learning to help them reach their customers and partners - wholesalers, distributors, plumbers, builders and contractors – starting in the U.S. and Canada. Consolidating and centralizing both internal and external training offerings and results will increase the company’s efficiency and reach, by providing consistent training on the positioning and products, automating registration and tracking and easily collecting course payments, as required. In addition, Uponor plans to use the learning content management system (LCMS) in a collaborative environment.
Uponor Corporate Training will be rolled out to their 600 employees, providing operational programs, including regular professional certifications and new hire training. By using domains, Uponor, will reach out to thousands of individuals and large contractors, registering their own clients. Finally, to leverage catalogs, data and processes, Uponor expects to later roll out to other countries, starting in Europe.
“Our first goal is ease of use,” says Jon Mendel, vice president of Human Resources. ”We are dealing with many levels of computer sophistication and still want to provide a consistent experience to help us clearly differentiate in a growing market for a green alternative for complex plumbing, fire sprinkler, heating and cooling systems. Buying SumTotal was an easy decision to make as we will be able to reach our employees and customers worldwide and then also, have the ability to add on performance management in the future for an integrated solution.”
“Companies like Uponor are using on-demand solutions to support both internal employee initiatives and business goals on local and worldwide levels,” says Sanjay Dholakia, senior vice president and General Manager, Learning and Talent Management Business Unit. “ResultsOnDemand provides a faster time to productivity while still having access to sophisticated capabilities such as e-commerce and domains. This is critical when a company needs to reach an extended enterprise with time-sensitive marketing and training materials for consistency across audiences and regions.”
